Sunrise & sunset calculator

Calculate sunrise, sunset and the length of the day for any latitude, longitude and date. Useful for photography (golden hour), travel, gardening and astronomy. Times are shown in your device’s timezone.

How it works

It uses the standard sunrise equation, computing the Sun’s position from the Julian date and your coordinates, with the usual −0.833° horizon correction for refraction and the Sun’s radius. Near the poles in summer or winter the Sun may not rise or set, in which case the result is shown as not available.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the time slightly off? Times are an estimate (within a minute or two) and shown in your device’s timezone, which may differ from the location’s.

What does “—” mean? At that latitude and date the Sun doesn’t cross the horizon (polar day or night).
