ROI calculator
Measure the return on investment (ROI) of any project, ad campaign or asset. ROI shows the gain (or loss) as a percentage of what you put in, so you can compare opportunities of different sizes on the same scale.
Formula
ROI % = (final value − amount invested) ÷ amount invested × 100. Net profit is simply final value − amount invested. Example: invest £1,000, end with £1,500 → net profit £500, ROI 50%.
What it’s for
- Marketing: revenue generated versus ad spend.
- Investing: total return on a stock or fund.
- Business: payback on equipment or a project.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate ROI? Subtract the cost from the final value, divide by the cost, and multiply by 100.
Does ROI include time? No — basic ROI ignores how long it took. For yearly comparisons use an annualised return.
